In time, your face loses its
full, firm, youthful appearance. This is the result
of a natural ageing process. In time, your skin is damaged,
becomes thinner or loses its natural elasticity. As
a result, it becomes loose and starts to wrinkle. Fat
tissue, which also helps to fill out your face, is lost.
This reduction in skin volume
can make your face look thin and narrow so that you
may possibly look older than you are. Fortunately, Sculptra™
can help smooth out lines and wrinkles and restore the
lost volume in a natural way.
Poly-L-lactic acid, the main
ingredient of Sculptra, has been used successfully in
surgical procedures for more than 25 years, among others
for bioresorbable sutures. Sculptra has been specially
developed to repair contour defects in the face.
About 150,000 patients have
been treated since 1999 world-wide. Sculptra is long
lasting, up to 2 years, it is biocompatible, biodegradable
and due to being synthetically produced an allergy test
is not necessary. |

Side effects are usually injection
related which include, bleeding, bruising, redness,
pain and swelling, which resolve in 2-6 days. Occasionally
small, invisible but palpable nodules may be felt which
may be massaged away or injected. |

Unlike surgical options Sculptra
can provide gradual, natural-looking results through
less traumatic treatment.
Results are not immediate and
generally several treatments may be necessary to obtain
the required results. However, in contrast to some other
treatments, which require frequent refresher sessions,
after the end of your Sculptra programme the results
will last up to 2 years. |
